During the research for this project I was looking at sustainability in different areas. Sustainable architecture, textiles and even lifestyle had a very important message behind it. I was researching our relationship with food, eating out, cooking at home etc.,however it was also a subject of a food waste and how it is becoming a bigger issue every day in our society. The facts are showing problems in a whole food system function, that also involves cultural, technical and economical aspects as well.

In my project I was concentrated on using something I personally consume every week and that can be used as a material for jewellery. I desided to use orange skin as my main material, as it was the most fruit waste that I had. Firstly. I wanted to experiment with its texture by drying it, twisting and pressing. I guess the main challenge was to have control ovet the piece, as it could start looking messy. I was developing the main structure of the piece through my designs and research, by having a specific order of placing every part of the piece and balancing it on the shoulder. As a linking material I was using burned sugar,  which was at the stage when it's turning black and basically burned and non-sticky. That consistency was perfect in order to achieve a secure substance that would hold the piece together.
